Darnita, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, now resides in Germany, where she continues to enchant audiences with her extraordinary talent. A lyric soprano with an impressive five-octave range, she commands the stage with a captivating vocal presence. For over 35 years, she has toured the U.S. and Europe, sharing the stage with celebrated actors such as Morgan Freeman, Antonio Fargas, Carl Lumbly, and Robert Earl Jones, to name a few.

Darnita’s musical journey began at the age of eight, singing in church. Her rich, multifaceted voice soon led her to international tours, collaborating with renowned artists and ensembles, including Edwin Hawkins, José Carreras, Howard Carpendale, Josh Groban, Mariah Carey, Sweet Soul Music Revue, Soul Finger, The Queens of Soul, Sweet Soul Gospel Revue, New York Gospel, The Harlem Gospel Singers, The Jackson Singers, The Very Best of Black Gospel, Gospel pour 100 Voix (Paris, France), The Kelly Family, Yvonne Catterfeld, and Jimmy Kelly & The Street Orchestra Band.

Currently, Darnita shines as the lead vocalist in RESPECT: A Tribute to Aretha Franklin, where she breathes new life into the legendary hits of Aretha Franklin. With a voice that is both powerful and soulful, she not only delivers the international chart-toppers but also revives lesser-known gospel and soul gems, all while channeling the authenticity and energy of the Queen of Soul herself. Accompanied by the RESPECT Tribute Show band, featuring Hammond organ and saxophones, Darnita ensures an electrifying experience that honors Aretha’s timeless legacy.
